1. Scope and purpose of the Service
The Service is a registration list. It collects the information required to assess and prioritise applicants for the allocation of a Plus recording device, and to contact those applicants when a device becomes available in their area. We do not process personal data through the Service for any other purpose.
2. Personal data we collect
2.1 Data you provide. Each item below is entered by you during registration. Only the email address is required; every subsequent question may be skipped.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email address | To identify your registration, to contact you regarding device allocation, and as the key under which your record is stored. |
| Availability in hours per week | To assess the volume of recording you are able to undertake. |
| Country and city | To determine the markets in which devices are distributed first. Pre-filled from your connection and editable; only the value you confirm is stored. |
| Recording environments | The work settings you select, to assess suitability for device allocation. |
| Connection speed | The result in Mbps of the in-page connection test, to assess whether footage upload is practicable. The test is performed against our own server. |
| Registration source | How you came to the Service, for the purpose of assessing distribution channels. |
2.2 Data collected automatically.
- Approximate location derived from IP address. Our hosting provider supplies the country and city associated with your connection, which is used to pre-fill the location question. We do not store your IP address, and the derived location is retained only if you confirm it.
- Language preference. Either the language you select or the language requested by your browser, stored with your registration so that correspondence is sent in a language you read.
- Referral data.Your referral code, the code through which you registered if you followed another participant's link, the number of registrations attributable to your link, and the number of times you have shared it. Your code is derived from your email address by a one-way hash and cannot be resolved back to that address.
- Aggregate visit counts. We increment a daily counter and record whether a browser has been seen previously. No identifier is stored alongside these counts and they cannot be associated with any individual or registration.
- Device category. Whether you registered on a phone, tablet or desktop computer, determined from your browser at the point of registration. We store the category only. We do not store the user-agent string from which it is derived, and the category cannot be used to identify a device or a browser.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider retains standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and diagnostic purposes.
